Lissy Langer studied Industrial Engineering (Mechanical Engineering) at the Technical University of Berlin and focused on production planning and control as well as operations research. As part of her studies, she spent time at Yonsei University (South Korea) and Linköping University (Sweden). She wrote her master thesis at Johns Hopkins University (USA) in cooperation with DIW Berlin, studying a policy application in the field of energy market modelling.

Ms. Langer has several years of experience in operational assembly supervision, technical planning and assembly control for Daimler AG's large engine production. She also worked for many years as a research assistant at both the Humboldt University in Berlin and the TU Berlin.
