Production and Operations Management

PSiP - Advanced Methods of Production Management

Content:

The module provides a fundamental and comprehensive understanding of the management for industrial production processes. After successful completion, students should have the ability to grasp operative planning and control tasks in various application contexts and to model, analyse and solve them using the qualitative and quantitative methods learned. They will know the possibilities and limitations of the methods and will be able to apply them to new problems using current research.

The course gives an overview of the central problems of operative production planning and control and shows how these can be solved by computer-aided forecasting and optimization models. The first part deals with concepts and methods of hierarchical planning, which are used in advanced planning systems. Building on this, the second part deals with specific planning approaches for the management of cyber-physical and lean production systems. Case studies from different industries are used to deepen and practice the contents.

The course is divided into three parts.

1. The first part deals with concepts and methods of hierarchical planning as they are used in today's advanced planning systems.

2. Building on this, the second part deals with specific planning approaches for the management of cyber-physical production systems in the context of Industry 4.0.

3. In the third part, different approaches to the management of lean production systems are discussed.

On the basis of case studies from different industries the contents are deepened and practiced practically.

 Other students especially liked this:

  • the clear understanding and practical relevance
  • the possibility to implement the acquired knowledge in software, based on cases
  • innovative teaching formats
  • good support
